Apple’s share of ownership in the eBook space is now large enough to take seriously.
Amazon has long been—and still is—the reigning champion in the eBook space. But Apple has been steadily growing since it’s debut of iBooks and the iBooks Author App. I expect the interest to increase in iBooks when it hits desktops in the next upgrade to Mac OS.
This is what happens in technology: When someone takes the lead position, that means disruption is on the way. While Amazon isn’t going anywhere soon…neither is Apple.
The temptation will be for digital publishers to be everywhere. The better approach is to determine where your readers are going to consume content.
Effective digital publishing and content marketing requires us to know our target so well that we can accurately anticipate where they will go to consume a particular type of content.
