In the spirit of the season, I thought I’d list out 10 reasons why I’m thankful for my clients:

  1. My clients choose me. They don’t have to, but they do.
  2. My clients invite me to the executive table of conversation. I get the privilege of being at the table with some great minds and leaders.
  3. My clients appreciate what I do. It always feels good to be affirmed.
  4. My clients trust me. When they ask me questions or assign me a project, they never look over my shoulder to be sure I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.
  5. My clients look to me for advice, insight, and perspective. I’m adding value not by just what I produce but by what I’ve seen in many different situations and circumstances.
  6. My clients appreciate risk. They value trying something new versus simply maintaining what exists today.
  7. My clients have high expectations. This challenges me to continually improve and stay sharp.
  8. My clients introduce me to their peers. Nearly all of my business comes from referrals.
  9. My clients act with integrity. I don’t fear that any of my clients will not do what is fair or “right.”
  10. My clients pay me. I get to write words and sentences and paragraphs and am able to provide for my family at the same time.

When was the last time you told your clients how much you appreciate them?
