7 lies people tell us
Most people don’t want you to succeed.
If you think that sounds harsh, just try breaking out of the pack and doing something remarkable. Watch how your friends [sic] and peers begin to tear apart your accomplishments. The reality is that most people don’t want you to succeed beyond their level of success. We want people to fail because it makes us feel better about ourselves…and our decision NOT to live out our dreams.
There are 7 lies people tell us to justify why we shouldn’t risk success today:
- You’re too young.
- You don’t have enough experience.
- You don’t have the right education.
- There are too many others already doing it.
- No one will pay for that service or buy that product.
- You don’t have enough available cash reserves to make it.
- It’s not responsible to give up a secure job.
These are just a few of the lies I’ve heard my entire adult life. The good news is I didn’t listen. And because I didn’t listen I’m getting to participate (not watch from the sidelines) in perhaps the most significant shift in how organizations market and communicate I will see in my lifetime, at least in my career.
What lies are holding you back?
