“A review of the largest philanthropic gifts in two recent years suggests that wealthy people do not focus on religion when make their mega-gifts. A review of ‘The 2007 Slate 60: The 60 Largest American Charitable Contributions of the Year,’ found that only five of the sixty gifts given had any reference to religious organizations in the gift descriptions. Two were to Jewish organizations, one or Oral Roberts University, one to the Archdiocese of Medicine for scholarships to area Catholic schools, and one to Baylor College of Medicine for medical research. A number of gifts were to the donors’ foundations, with the balance mostly to hospitals and higher education.”

Does this quote discourage you or fire you up?

It fires me up! Just because we haven’t done a good job at cultivating all that God intended to fund the ministry of the church in the past, doesn’t mean we have to keep doing the same thing.

(Hint: “The same thing” isn’t working.)

I’m driven to push even harder to help church leaders do a better job moving forward. The Kingdom and all Eternity depends upon it!

Let’s get to work.
