My presentation to California Baptist pastors on church giving
Last week I was given the opportunity to led a Webinar for pastors on church giving. It was hosted by Rod Wiltrout, Stewardship and Cooperative Program Director for the California Baptist Convention. Rod is one of those guys who is a constant learner and has worked very hard to learn and take advantage of technology as a means to expand his reach. He is a friend, and I was honored when he asked me to lead one of his monthly Webinars.
I started originally to focus solely on sustainable funding, but I’ve learned that I need to start from the very beginning to ensure pastors understand the changing shape and scope of church giving in local church ministry. Most pastors are so close to the situation that it’s difficult for them to pause and recognize the changes. So that’s where I decided to spend my 29 minutes, marking the change in the assumptions and behavior of the person in the pew. My hope is that by highlighting these shifts and providing a plan of action, we can ensure the money God intended to fund the work of the church doesn’t end up funding someone else’s budget.
If you’re interested in being included in the Webinar announcement list, e-mail Rod and he’ll add you to the list.
